Exclusions & Warnings
Cherwell Crime Partnership (CCP) Exclusion Notices and Warnings
Members of the public benefit from an implied permission to enter business premises to view or purchase merchandise, receive services, or participate in hospitality events. But businesses are on private property and the permission to enter can be revoked. Businesses have the right to Exclude anyone from their premises at any time.
Businesses who are members of CCP have given the Crime Partnership and Pubwatch permission to issue Exclusion Notices on their behalf.
CCP notices restrict those who receive them from entering any of the members’ premises for a set length of time.
Pubwatch Notices:
- are issued in line with each town tariff, please see the Cherwell Pubwatch page for more details and will include a list of premises the exclusion applies to.
Crime Partnership Notices:
- include a list of premises the excluded person is unable to enter usually for 12 months. A list of premises can also be found on the Our Members page.
Exclusion notices are issued in response to crimes committed or anti-social behaviour in members’ premises. Notices are not issued lightly. Committees look at the incidents reported and make decisions following a strict protocol
Excluded individuals can appeal an Exclusion Notice / Warning Letter by writing to the Committee of the relevant CCP or Pubwatch. Appeals are considered at the next relevant committee meeting but the person remains excluded until the appeal is heard.
Photographs of offenders are published on the CCP members’ secure website DISC for the purposes of deterring and preventing crime.
CCP’s partners and co-ordinators play no part in the Exclusion order/Warning letter decision-making process. There are Information Sharing Agreements in place between the schemes and Thames Valley Police. These can be viewed on www.thamesvalley.police.uk. All agreements are reviewed every 12 months.
A Crime Partnership/Pubwatch Warning Letter is not a ban. It informs people that they have been involved in an incident and that any further bad behaviour may result in an Exclusion Notice.
How to Appeal
You are able to appeal any Crime Partnership/Pubwatch Exclusion or Warning Letter by writing to the issuing Committee, details are listed on the correspondence you receive. Please include all information you wish to be considered to support your appeal.
Your appeal letter will be acknowledged and the correspondence taken to the next available meeting. Be assured your appeal will be fully investigated and reviewed by the relevant Committee.
Once a decision has been made a letter will be sent to you as a matter of urgency.
Please be aware that until the appeal process is completed and you receive this notification you should continue to not enter any premises listed on the initial Exclusion notice.
